Cottage Pie

  • 1 tbsp (15ml) vegetable stock
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 small carrot, peeled and diced (or canned or frozen)
  • 100g mince beef or lamb
  • 5g (1 tsp) mixed herbs or chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 small can (160g) tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper
  • Worcestershire sauce, dash
  • 1 cooked potato, mashed (150-200g)
  • 1 bottle Fortisip Compact, neutral flavour
  • 25g grated cheddar cheese


  1. Heat the oil in a frying pan and gently cook the onions and carrots for five minutes
  2. Add the mince and dry until browned all over
  3. Add the herbs, tomatoes, seasoning and Worcestershire sauce to taste
  4. Cook for 20 minutes over a gentle heat, stirring occasionally
  5. Mix the mashed potato with the bottle of Fortisip Compact and the cheddar cheese
  6. Place the meat mixture into a small over proof pie dish
  7. Top with the potato and place under a hot grill until golden brown and crispy**
